Go Sonics! Let’s get some nice inside production tonight.
February 2nd, 2007 at 8:45 pm
Gelabale with the nasty throwdown on P.J. Brown
February 2nd, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Is Wallace guarding Nick or Chris?
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:00 pm
Looks like Deng is an early problem for the Sonics, points and rebounds wise…
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:04 pm
Nick did everything well that first period. It would be nice to see us continue to get to the line at this clip.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:06 pm
lol Kevin Calaboro: “Sonics really don’t seem to value possessions”
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Are you guys up in Seattle getting this on Espn or FSn?
Tom Tolbert is pretty hilarious.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:09 pm
I’m watching the ESPN broadcast since its in HD and yeah TT is kinda a kick…
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:09 pm
RIDNOUR’S RUNNER HAS RETURNED! OH THE ELATION!
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:11 pm
I really don’t mind Lenny as an announcer, but he gets a little stale and predictable with his comments sometimes. Tolbert is refreshing.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:12 pm
Actually I just noticed that there is an HD channel with the the fox broadcast, I’ll probably switch to that since KC is half the game usually.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:12 pm
We can get the broadcast on either FSN or ESPN. I personally hate listening to national announcers act as though they are experts on the teams when they really don’t know all that much. That’s the one thing that’s always bothered me about seeing the NFL games.
That said, Tolbert can be pretty entertaining or pretty grating on my nerves, depending on what mood I am in. I think Lenny actually made an insightful point about Luke’s body language looking better tonight than it has in a while. Maybe he had a profound out of body experience there for a second.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:13 pm
Bryce - yeah you can sometimes get the Sonics in HD with DirecTV on channel 95. I think they do all home games on there.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:14 pm
I thought I’d definitely hate Lenny as well, but he’s really not that bad IMO. Can be dry, but KC makes up for most of that. I usually like most of the TNT/ESPN guys, but Walton can bug. My favorite other than KC is Doug Collins, loved his insight.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:14 pm

February 2nd, 2007 at 9:14 pm
lmao. Ray’s shoes in HD = Win
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:16 pm
Yeah, I have Comcast and its on channel 664. Now that I think about it, I knew that but for some reason I was watching the ESPN channel. DO you get more HD channels with satillite?
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:18 pm
I’m not sure about that.. I know that with DirecTV you can only get 3 of the 4 major networks (either NBC or CBS is not available yet) in HD. And then you can get some of the other channels like ESPN2, ESPN, Discovery, and TNT in high-def, along with some of the movie channels. Not sure how that compares to cable, though.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:19 pm
hubie brown is the best commentator by a long stretch IMO. he’s so knowledgable and passionate.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:21 pm
I guess the main national guy that I really cannot stand is Bill Walton. He acts like he’s God’s gift to basketball. He makes little effort to hide his arrogance and his know-it-all attitude. It almost feels like he’s trying to be bigger than the game he’s commentating on. Just my two cents..
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:26 pm
Oh, I guess I’ll take this opportunity to officially eat crow regarding Nick Collison and his play. Earlier this year, I was very harsh in my assessment of his play and his contributions. Right now, he’s looking like a very solid player and the offense seems to flow better when he’s out there. I’ll admit that it appears that I was too tough on him and that I have apparently underestimated his abilities.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:27 pm
I would agree that Hubie is super knowledgeable, but his delivery is sort of constipated. You feel like your being preached to by the basketball deity…and your just not getting it.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Alex- that sound just about the same as Comcast. I’ve watched a whole heck of a lot of shows on the discovery channel…lol
I like Hubie too.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Alex, I agree. I don’t know what Collison had up his butt earlier this year, but I am glad he passed it.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pm
I’d have to agree with Joe on that one. That’s my problem with a lot of announcers, actually. I feel as though they’re talking down to their audience or assuming that they’re dealing with an audience full of dolts. That’s what bugged me about Ron Fairly on the M’s broadcasts over the years.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Boy Nick is just playing like he’s back in Kansas or something. 13 and 6 with time still left in the second quarter.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:32 pm
Yeah there’s pluses and minuses to dish and cable. I personally prefer DirecTV for the picture quality (I think regular DirecTV signal >> digital cable signal and DirecTV HD signal >> cable HD signal). But the downside is having to pay for equipment and not having On Demand, things of that nature…
If I’m not mistaken the monthly package fees for comparable packages are less for DirecTV also, but I could be mistaken.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:34 pm
I swear, Chris Duhon is a really nice player. I’ve only watched him about 4 or 5 times this year, but it seems like he never misses a shot, along with playing great defense.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:35 pm
We had a good little chance mid-way through the 2nd to get about a 13 point spread. All and all, good first half though.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:36 pm
I can’t believe that they have had 30 points in the paint thus far. The only time I ever see them with that many points in the paint is when I play as them in NBA2K7 on my 360. LOL
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:37 pm
Too bad Luke got those 2 charges, hopefully he can continue to play better in the 2nd half.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Yeah this team can be so pleasing to watch some times, and so frustrating at other times. I suppose that’s because we have so many young and inconsistent players.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:39 pm
I think DTV is a bit less compared to CC. I hear the DTV picture does tend ot be a bit better than cable, we’re kinda debating right now if we should do the old switch. The on-demand is nice though. Tons of childrens shows for our kids. Other than that, we dont use it much. Last year though, they used to have every single sonics game available at about 10pm. Unfortunalty they dont seem to have that feature now. It was pretty nice.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:39 pm
On a different note, when I was driving around during lunchtime I happened to have it on 950 KJR (I’m sorry to admit) and Softy was saying that they were going to have Margerita (sp?) Prentiss, the senator from Renton on later to discuss the whole Sonics arena thing. Did anyone catch that interview, by chance?
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:41 pm
Blazers/Nugz- OT 97 to 97. Roy looking good with 11 FTA
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:43 pm
I might be the only one but I love Bill Walton calling games. Its really ashame that you don’t get to hear him anymore on Clipper broadcasts cause he had his set up man working those games with him and would be in good form every night.
It’s the absolute overexaggerations that make him a riot. More than likely the things that annoy most about him are what I find I like the most.
‘That was the greatest play in the history of basketball!’
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Well, the one thing that I think DirecTV has over cable with kid’s shows (correct me if I’m wrong) is the fact that DirecTV has 2 or 3 different Nickelodeon’s, 2 or 3 Disney’s, Toon Disney, NickToons, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, etc. From my recollection, cable doesn’t have nearly the amount of kid’s channels available.
The other thing to consider with DirecTV is that the typical satellite has 4 LNBs (not sure what that stands for). Basically, that means that it can serve 4 different channels to 4 different TV’s in your house. Now if you want DVR (TiVo) in one room and want to be able to watch a different channel while you’re recording something, that actually takes two of the 4 “lines” available. You can buy a device and have some install it that splits the 4 into 8, but that’s more $$ of course. There’s also a way to have more than 4 TV’s with the 4 line deal, but it would mean that some of the TV’s are on the same line and therefore have to watch the same thing on both TV’s (if that makes sense). Sorry for the longwinded post.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:47 pm
we NEED a point guard. The ridnour and watson defense is so bad. Collison is a new player, is very nice
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:47 pm
If you can, flip over and catch Portland and Denver in OT.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:48 pm
Yeah, the PG play has been very disappointing and uneven this year. It seems to me that there was much more cohesiveness with the Ridnour/Watson combo last year after Watson came over in trade. Of course, it’s tough to measure what the losses of Swift and Rashard have meant to this team in general and to our PG tandem specifically.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:49 pm
Hahaha, overexaggerations is right! How about this one.
“He’s the best inbounds passer in the NBA!” haha that one had me and my wife laughing.
Bills okay, used to hate him, but starting to tolerate him more and more. Seems like a pretty nice guy too.
Doug Collins is still my second next to the ALL TIME GREATEST KC!
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Alex- I’ve had satiliite before, both Dish Network and DTV, both were just fine but back then, DTV had the NFL package. Right now, it’s just a matter of convience really. An even better picture would be nice though….hahaha
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Steve Blake is ripping Portland a new one in OT`
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:53 pm
Yeah I know what you mean.. I’ve had DTV since early 2000 and haven’t been too keen on changing. It’s just nice to know that FSNW is channel 651 on DirecTV no matter if you’re in Seattle, Phoenix, Dallas, wherever. Little stuff, I know, but it’s nice.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:54 pm
Did this turn into a cable versus dish thread? Its halftime, I’ll add my .02
Personally I favor Comcast over dish. Dish quality is not better, ESPN and ABC (the same company) broadcast in 720p, which is slightly less “total” quality than 1080i, but it is better for fast action like sporting events. Makes sense for ESPN right? The delivery of that signal is no better or less by dish or cable. If the signal is not sufficient, the picture will pixel. In other words, with digital you get the MPEG or you do not-there isn’t any in between. I am not a Comcast employee, only someone very knowledgeable about digital encoding.
I favor Comcast only because it also provides my internet and because of the On-Demand. If you haven’t tried on demand, and I only did starting a month ago after 10 years as a Comcast subscriber, you’ll be completely sold.
I suddenly realized this post-along with others-may be a violation of some agreement. No worry if it doesn’t make it past moderation.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:54 pm
I guess a better example would be that TNT is 245 (or is it 247?) on DTV no matter where you live, but you get the idea. lol.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Yeah, Blake with a very very solid double double.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:56 pm
From Gamecast, it looks like Gelabale isn’t have too great of a night.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:56 pm
Whatever halftime speech Bob Hill is using needs to be scrapped.
February 2nd, 2007 at 9:57 pm
Seems to be getting away from us a little here..
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:00 pm
Duhon has been a big lift for da bulls so far. We’ll just have to see if he stays so hot in the 2nd half
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:00 pm
Oh no…
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:00 pm
giving it away
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:02 pm
Ok - this has bugged me for quite some time regarding the Supes and I have to vent. Why is it so tough for the guards to keep floor balance? I didn’t go very far in organized hoops myself, but I remember the coaches saying that there needs to be floor balance between the guards.
Meaning, that if the PG is driving to the hole or taking a shot, the off guard/SG needs to make sure they’re not crashing the boards and are getting back on D quickly if the PG misses so that the cherry picking run outs are prevented. If one guard shoots the ball, the other is supposed to stay back as a safety valve. It’s elementary stuff, but I don’t know if the Sonics get it sometimes.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:02 pm
Thanks for the info Dave and Alex BTW…..My last comment on HD signal. It isnt truly HD even unless your home is wired for Wifi or Hifi or what ever right? I mean if my home has basic coaxil stuff, it cant truly produce the signal right?
If you wish you can email that answer here brtfan at yahoo dot com
If you know that is….thanks
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:10 pm
I know that Big Ben has a sore knee, but this is about as invisible as I’ve ever seen him on the court.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:17 pm
Is Ben Wallace’s career high still at 25 for points?
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:17 pm
I think the Supes have been a bit perimeter happy this quarter thus far.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:19 pm
When did Wallace have 25 points? His season high thus far has been 15 points and that’s when we played the Bulls the first time around. He did have 20 boards that night to go with the 15 points.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:19 pm
Luke really didn’t execute that Pnr very well.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:22 pm
Also, using the great basketball-reference.com site, I found that Ben had a 22 point game against the NO Hornets in ‘05 and a 21 point game against the Wizards later in the year. And, he had a 29 point game in the playoffs against Philly in the 1st round and a 21 point game against the Pacers in the 2nd round. I’m too lazy to go back much further. LOL.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:23 pm
My bad, Wallace’s high was 22 (points) back in 04 against the Hornets.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:23 pm
Yeah that’s another thing that seems lacking is the Pick-and-roll. Ray knows how to use it well, but the bigs aren’t setting the screens very solidly for him, at least not on a consistent basis. Then, the other guards (like Luke or Earl) don’t seem to know how to use a good pick when they get one. They don’t seem to understand the concept of the taking their defender real close to the screener so that they can “rub him off” the screen and get open.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:27 pm
That Tyrus Thomas block was quite impressive.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:28 pm
Is coach Hill trying to make the lineup as small as possible?
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:30 pm
Why not bring Luda (Chris Wilcox) back into the game? I know he has 4 fouls and all, but the game is going to get away from us here soon. (Sorry, I always call Wilcox that because I personally think that he looks a bit like Ludacris. LOL)
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Is Luke back? Please?
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:32 pm
Nice…
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:41 pm
Hehe, I just saw a blast from the past on the Bulls bench. Apparently (I just looked this up) one of their assistant coaches is none other than Pete Myers. If my memory serves, Myers was the person who took over at SG for the Bulls when Jordan retired the first time in ‘93..
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:44 pm
Luke just proved he is our ****ing PG
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:46 pm
I am just watching Gamecast, but it seems to me that Nick has more than 2 blocks, I don’t know.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:46 pm
At what point can we safely say that Nick’s performance is for real? I keep waiting for him to fall off, but he’s been very consistent. If by some chance he can maintain this double-double level that he’s on, he could be a huge part of the nucleus of this team.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:46 pm
“Why not bring Luda (Chris Wilcox) back into the game? I know he has 4 fouls and all, but the game is going to get away from us here soon. (Sorry, I always call Wilcox that because I personally think that he looks a bit like Ludacris. LOL)”
I’m assuming because they’re trying to win?
Wilcox is horrid.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Sam - Nick is very active right now on both ends of the court. It’s surprising that he’s only credited for 2 blocks in the official tally.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:47 pm
You know I like how the whole “Rasheed Wallace” rule lasted for about one month this year. How can you not make any remarks to refs and then Hinrich and Skiles don’t get a T on that call???
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:48 pm
Scott - I know. I just wanted an excuse to tell my “I think Wilcox looks like Ludacris” anecdote.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:50 pm
Also, I am pretty happy that the Sonics are so poor on the road. That means I can just watch the home games and all the home games are on HD…good times!!
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Sonics on HD…only thing I need to make things perfect is to bring back Ehlo…
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Hopefully the Ehlo comment was a joke. I’d be with you if you said that they need to bring back Marques Johnson.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:52 pm
I think that’s game, fellas.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:53 pm
Whenever we talk trade about the bulls we talk about Deng (who is untouchable)…personally I wouldn’t be dissapointed in Nocioni…he seems to do all the little things…and can draw fouls
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:54 pm
why does earl have to shoot coming out of a time out, this guy’s the worst shooter in the league for a guard. it’s sooooo frustrating.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:55 pm
Wow what a lame energy commercial??? Good to know that they have the “motivation” to get energy back up ASAP…isn’t their motivation to get us to pay for more energy??
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:55 pm
I cannot ****ing believe Watson just shot twice in a row in such a critical moment
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:56 pm
AND AGAIN!!!!
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 pm
Why not run something for Ray or Luke?
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 pm
This is crazy. The last three possessions have been shots by Earl and Wilkins. Insane. Doesn’t Hill have any “go to” plays that he keeps handy for close 4th quarter situations that are guaranteed to get Ray open? Ugh.
And yeah, that energy commercial is pretty freakin’ lame.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 pm
2 for 10, when is this guy going to be sent to the end of the bench. look at tony parker, he’s a better shooter but understands the limitations on his range. he’ll only shoot the three if he has to.
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 pm
- You suck Jack Neis…and I hated your son too!!
- So the real question? Why do the Sonics seem to always be just bad enough to lose?? I don’t watch many of the bad teams in the league (ATL, Charlotte etc) but do all bad teams always get so close??
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:58 pm
There goes Collison
February 2nd, 2007 at 10:59 pm
I would really be happy to see Earl get traded he just can’t shoot. One day he’ll show his kids all the NBA games this year that for some reason listed him as a shooter and he’ll be able to lie about this talent…he really sucks
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:00 pm
I was wondering the same thing RE: losing close games, Myk. I don’t know whether to be encouraged that they’re close in many games or discouraged that they can’t seem to put anybody away.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:01 pm
If you’re Ray Allen right now, what emotions or thoughts are going through your mind?
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:01 pm
I would love to have Ray to take some late game shots. But honestly if we EVER have a chance these guys gotta make some shots…
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:01 pm
At least Watson likely won’t pull an Al Martin and tell his kids that he once played football at USC. LOL
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:01 pm
And Damien shoots it. That just puzzles me.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:03 pm
What is this two man keep away game that Earl and Damien are playing? Unbelievable. I swear we should package them both up and trade them somewhere, to someone, for pretty much anything. Very selfish play on their part.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:05 pm
Alright, I gotta go play some Xbox 360 and let off some steam. Good evening, fellas.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:05 pm
whoever says coach hill isn’t the problem is dead wrong! He makes bad decisions @ crucial points in the games. I put the full blame on him tonight.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:06 pm
SHOOT! I knew it!
When watching Safety Dance on youtube the Sonics were close, when watching something else, Bulls pulled away. Man, I knew I should’ve stayed with Safety Dance even though it is the weirdest and nonsense song and music video ever made.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:08 pm
Dang Karma….But, you know you can dance if you want to Sam.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:09 pm
haha
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:12 pm
lol, anyhow that third quarter made a big difference for the Bulls.
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:12 pm
shite!!
This team has ok players but they just dont know what to do at closing time. Will somebody please do something!.Maybe we should all talk about why ray didnt make the all star team. And luke isnt the answer either just because he plays decent for 6 minutes.God this is frustrating!! Cant luke pray a little harder or hold on to his bible tighter>
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:28 pm
what does it mean that my comment is awaiting moderation?
Both Luke and Earl are terrible relatively speaking.Look at all the point guards on contenders.another mediocre job by Sund
February 2nd, 2007 at 11:30 pm
Box Score thread is posted.
Big Chris
