Yippee!! Another loss!!! This is that rare season as an NBA fan where you can actually be happy about your team loosing a game. A good game, and a solid loss.
Very solid games by Rashard Lewis (though he barely shot just bad enough to loose the game), Nick Collison, Chris Wilcox and Mike Wilks. Wilks continues to play well which is very nice to see.

I wonder why Nate has decided to give Udoka minutes over Outlaw this season. Outlaw plays with a type of frenetic energy that reminds me of Josh Smith. I suppose Nate abhors those types of players.

I just think that maybe Nate isn’t all that good of a coach..
April 14th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
So Rashard had a good game?? Was it his 33% shooting, zero assists or defense on Outlaw that pulled him out of a great game?
April 14th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
Rashard’s play as of late may force him to come crawling back for that extension offer. I would bet that his stats with Ray Allen are significantly better than his statistics without Ray (at least FG%).

Nate is a fine coach. I think that Aldridge’s development as well as Roy’s has affected their rotation a little bit. I see them continuing to progress a little bit every year. Jarrett Jack is turning into a pretty decent point.

Two games left in the season. Good games for Lewis, Wilks and Wilcox. More chances for winning the draft lottery on May 22nd.

rashardn has to go now hes shown his heart his he wants his own team built around doesnt wanna gut it out thats why u have to respect ray allen he doesnt whine doesnt complain he just wants a chance to win i think the sonics owe that much

Not sure if I understand your post Bluehill. I would agree that the Sonics should let Rashard walk if he demands the max. However, if Rashard feels that he is receiving a lukewarm reaction from the teams with cap space, and decides he wants to stay in Seattle, then the two-year extension is a very cost-effective solution. You’d be crazy to not want this guy back at fiscally prudent price; he only is the sixth or seventh most efficient small forward in the NBA.

Alex, I doubt that there aren’t going to be any offer for Shard, as I don’t think that those last couple of games mean a thing.
He’s been in the league for 9 years and everyone knows what he can and what he can’t do.
Also, I expect some team not under the cap to try and get him in a sign and trade and I wouldn’t mind something like this.
It could give us something solid in return and we could move on.
After all, this Lewis/Allen combo hasn’t gotten us anywhere and won’t do so in the future as well.
BTW: That two year extansion is not going to happen. He wants to test the free agent market and therefore needs to forfeit his final two years. So if he does re-sign, it will be a new 5-6 year deal by the Sonics.
April 15th, 2007 at 8:11 am
For a 6-10 guy, he sure can’t rebound.

How about a sign and tgrade for Al Harrington & Sarunas Jasikevicius?

“yipee another loss?” whoa…. how can a true fan support losing?
believe me as a warrior fan, be careful of what you wish for.. you might just lose 12 years in a row!
have some pride….and beat LA!

True fans want there team to draft well when the games are meaningless. When the games mean something we want the team to play with everything they got. If you think these games mean anything then why will the best team in the league (Mavs) rest their players against us this week?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:55 am
yeah, screw that, the season is tanked, why try to win games now? We need the ping pong balls.
Nate is an excellent coach in the right environment that gives him the authority to enforce his program. I think Portland is giving him that. You’ll see as Portland improves next year.
April 15th, 2007 at 11:36 am
Portland better improve next year they have a good first round draft pick PG and three lottery picks (with a fourth one coming) on their team. The team is overflowing with talent…
April 15th, 2007 at 12:22 pm
the reasom it didnt work yet is because the sonics havent given rashard and ray the right supporting cast .the guys around them are terrible third string players outside of wilcox if we can over haul the supporting cast then we can do somethig but resigning luke and nick to those contracts were the downfall in my eyes wouldnt have been much easier to keep antonio daniels ???
April 15th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Portland will continue to improve. I lived there for a while, and there is definitely a better feeling for the team since Nate arrived. Also, Paul Allen isn’t overpaying for ridiculous contracts so much now, and Nate is free to discipline his players as he wishes. They have a load of talent, but, not enough vets on the team at this point. Nate’s system is great for that team because no one has a birthright to minutes; they have to be earned. That’s how it has to be (in my opinion) for a team that has guys like Brandon Roy and Martell Webster competing against each other for minutes.
I miss that in Seattle. I feel like we took a step in the wrong direction when we began to give our young centers minutes and we decreased the roles of our best rebounders in the past (Evans and Fortson). It took us some time to develop new rebounders–Wilcox and Collison. And we’re just getting to the point of being competitive again.
