Chunkstyle (aka Rafael Calonzo) over at Supersonicsoul has come up with a couple of images you can print out and wear for tonight’s game (or whenever you want if that’s how you roll). Check them out! Print out a few extra to hand out to friends and strangers!

I love it.
It’s like Clay Bennett, Greg Nickels and Dan “Fozzie Bear” Lewis all in one face.

It doesn’t quite have the Nickels turkey neck though…

Thanks for the shout out! Though for some reason the image gets all stretched out and blurry when you click on it above. May I suggest this link instead? http://www.supersonicsoul.com/uploaded_images/toon_20071031_cbfrank-796693.jpg
Go Sonics!

Seems like evertime I give up on Steve Kelly he does something I like.
Props for advocating the fans not to give up. Finally someone in the media helping push.

Who wants to speculate on what Clay will have to say on Friday?
Will he announce he’s filed for relocation?
Will he announce he’s delaying the filing indefinitely?
Will he dial up the anti-Seattle rhetoric another notch?
Will he strike a conciliatory tone with the Mayor and the Gov?
Any guesses?

I’d be stunned if Bennett said anything positive Friday.
He will announce he’s officially filed for relocation, & I’m sure he’ll throw in some anti-Seattle stuff, too.
I’ve got no problem with him filing for relocation on Friday. It can only hurt their already weak court case, in my opinion, and it should give these “behind the scenes arena efforts” a sense of urgency.

Clay’s announcement will almost for sure be negative. It’s the way he has gone about this the entire time. Anytime something positive happens or potentially might happen to rally the troops, Clay is always quick to follow it up with something to counteract the positivity. This announcement will take away any good vibes that may come from the home opener. I’ll almost bet you money that deep down he’s rooting against the team this season.

He will call out Seattle for lack of funding a new arena and building ridiculous condos everywhere. Haha, no it’ll probably be about his stupid filing for relocation crap.

Clay Bennett will announce the filing for relocation, and in a move to show goodwill he will forego the team name leaving “Sonics” to remain in Seattle.
On a side note he will announce the teams new name: The Oklahoma Cuzpumpers.

I’m sure it will be negative. It’s interesting though, in the Seattle Times article in which Brian Robinson is quoted, he mentions something about the Seattle Center and a new arena and that NBA officials have bought off on the plan - or something to that effect. Is that quote accurate, because if so it kind of belies the idea that the NBA is not talking to the city.
Quote from Seattle Times below -
“Robinson said city and NBA officials have reached a consensus that Seattle Center is the right location for the teams, fitting primary owner Clay Bennett’s wishes for a “world-class” facility.

The PI article on Bennett this morning from Art Thiel said that he had received and rejected offers to buy the team from him.
Why the hell doesn’t he just save himself a few bucks and sell the team and let Stern give him an expansion franchise in OKC?
October 31st, 2007 at 3:07 pm
If Bennet was offered the same or a bit more $ than he paid for the Sonics from a local owner, then that seems relevant in a court setting where unprofitability is used as an argument for moving. That said, nothing says how much he has been offered. I doubt it is what he paid given there is not arena in sight.

McCoy-
I agree. There isn’t any information that says anything about the offer amount, but it’s interesting to find out that he’s getting offers.

Here is a video of Governor Gregoire talking about the Sonics situation, this is the first I’ve heard her really publicly address this matter and at the very least it sounds as if she’s working at keeping the team here:

Rashard just scored the first points of the season for Orlando on a fadeaway, being guarded by Desmond Mason.
October 31st, 2007 at 4:55 pm
Yeah, I agree.
My vote is that he’ll announce filing for relocation.

Who wants to speculate on what Clay will have to say on Friday?
He’ll announce that he’s signed off on the super-secret plans that Gregoire submitted to him and that the Sonics will be here forever.
Call me “Mr Positive”.

Great link, thanks Alex.

LOL! How about the OKC PoleSmokers?

Alex - thanks for the video link with the GOV.
IMO she has to be involved & supportive to get a new arena deal done - I hope she has something solid going on.
I agree with all who expect Bennett to be negative & say soon - possibly Friday - he will apply for a move.
I also agree with K-Man on how this might actually help the hopes of keeping the sonics around.
