Steve Novak and Luther Head abused the tandem of Jeff Green and Kevin Durant, who’ll never be a victorious duo due to their ghastly defense. Although Durant finally quit chucking three-pointers like a madman — which has improved his offensive efficiency — he’s still an abysmal defender.
Durant will always be a piss-poor defender, though. That’s ’cause Durant is relatively unathletic, lacking the necessary amount of lateral quickness to guard opposing swingmen, and not strong enough to play one-on-one against forwards in light of his ectomorphic physique.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
The Sonics only had 8 “turns” tonight, so they must have played a very good game.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Tonight must’ve been the start of the Elson evaluation.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
And Ridnour is hurt again, limping around on a bruised leg. Mr. Kleenex, that guy. In two years, he’ll be lighting up the Norwegian league.
April 9th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Watson IS better than Ridnour.
hee hee!
April 9th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Nate Mac is a great coach!

In two years, Luke Ridnour will still be earning a $6,500,000 annual salary. “The Golden Boy” should definitely send Wally Walker and Rick Sund a thank you card.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Hard to believe Ridnour has been in the league for five years now. He still looks and plays like a rookie. Fifth year in the league and he’s shooting 41% this year. His shooting has not improved whatsoever since his rookie season.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Speaking of shooting percentages, last night we sucked on that score. Terrible. Tonight wasn’t any better. Our little Frodo added to that with a charming 0-4 performance. Joy!
I’m hoping they can put on the afterburners for the last game.

“Steve Novak and Luther Head abused the tandem of Jeff Green and Kevin Durant, who’ll never be a victorious duo due to their ghastly defense.” (AK1984)
AK, I’m sure you will be able to manipulate some statistic (possibly eFG% allowed/min*(1-square root of pi)^e*Net Points Per 72.9 possessions) to refute what I’m about to say, but Jeff Green is a fucking awesome defensive player for a rookie. I could give a flying fuck if Steve Novak went off from deep tonight. That’s the whole team’s fault, not just the guy who was supposed to be guarding him but had to help when EW/LR got burned by Rafer Alston. Where were all these comments about JG/KD’s porous defense when they shut down Brandon Roy on 3/24? I’m sure you realize how draconian your evaluations are and you’re likely just trying to provoke an emotional response (such as this) because it makes you feel powerful. But I tell you what, the last thing I need in the middle of this damn arena saga is your overly dramatic bitching about the alleged ineptitude of our two rookies. Give it a rest.

Also…
“Who’ll never be a victorious duo…”
I’ll bet you any amount of money that the Seattle/OKC Sonics will win 45+ games by the 2011-2012 season (assuming KD and JG are still on the team at that point). Seriously, you name the amount. Unless, of course, you were exaggerating to draw attention to yourself.

Don’t you get tired of posting this same exact quote every single thread? Seriously.

Kevin Durant will have the ability to lead a team to the playoffs with an above-average record (e.g., 50-32) by his fourth season (i.e., 2010-2011); however, he’ll never be able to take one all the way and win a coveted championship trophy.

Nope …

- Here is what I love…when the +/- stats favor your argument you are the first to jump on that. however, when the +/- stat doesn’t work for you you look for another stat.
What I don’t get is the constant desire to prove something that everyone already understand you guys think…its lame.
April 9th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Sad….the site ate my post pointing out what pu$$ies you guys all are by only posting these thoughts on nights it proves your point.
April 10th, 2008 at 12:07 am
Yeah, Myk, you can’t type pu$$ies without it getting caught by the spam filter. Of course, I’m the dumbass who’s in never-ending moderation here at SonicsCentral — as well as banned from both USSMariner and Lookout Landing — thus, I pay attention to these little details.

I’m surprised Rick Adelman has been able to take this Rockets team to a better record despite having Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming sidelined for a substantial number of games. I suppose Houston’s success this season provides evidence that either Jeff Van Gundy isn’t that great of a coach or perhaps Adelman is a pretty good coach himself.
It’s too bad that it his regular season success may be for naught as I see them losing in the first round to the Phoneix Suns in five games. The Yao injury renders the Rockets nothing more than first-round fodder; I’d much rather be the sixth seed than the fifth seed if it meant getting the Rockets in the first round, as opposed to the Utah Jazz.

City of Seattle drops THE BOMB: http://tinyurl.com/6m6kxa
“The city also filed copies of e-mail in which Bennett’s ownership group reacted to its purchase of the team in July 2006 from the Seattle owners led by Starbuck’s CEO Howard Schultz.
In one e-mail sent to Bennett and Ward, McClendon celebrated the news with the subject line: “the OKLAHOMA CITY SONIC BOOM (or maybe SONIC BOOMERS!) baby!!!!!!!!!!”
This is definitely not over, folks.

Regarding Ted Zee and other comments:
there’s no way the citi loses in court. I believe after all is said and done Clay will be forced to sell to local buyers

- Sure is an odd comment considering that Yao has played more games this year than last year and TMac will play essentially the same number of games this year as last year.
Good try though…
It also amuses me that you’d post this considering they’ve won all of one game more than last year and likely will only be favored in one additional game the rest of the season (one they could possibly lose since they’ll be resting players). If you take away that completely flukish 22 game winning streak the team has a 31-25 record.
BTW…where were all these posts when the team was 20-19 in mid-January??

Tell you what, though, I love Scola. Love him, love him, love him. Why don’t we have a crazy man like that?
April 10th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
As for Durant’s defense, somebody should make him sleep with an IPod that repeats: “Rotation is a good thing. Rotation is a good thing. Rotation is a good thing.”
April 10th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Green’s IPod should say: “You don’t HAVE to take that jumper. You don’t HAVE to take that jumper. You don’t HAVE to take that jumper.”
April 10th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Watson’s should play: “Jump passes, eh, not so much. Jump passes, eh, not so much. Jump passes, eh, not so much.”
April 10th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Ridnour’s: “Oslo is beautiful in February. Oslo is beautiful in February. Oslo is beautiful in February.”
April 10th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
holy shit -40 for Jeff Green?
That is the biggest negative i’ve ever seen here

Being recorded by PJ. Now THAT would be devastating.
