Rally Rules
Posted on Sunday, June 8th, 2008 at 11:32 am by Brian Robinson
Sonicscentral readers should be the first to know that GARY PAYTON is confirmed at our rally, 4:30 pm June 16th at the Federal Courthouse, 700 Stewart in Seattle. Gary will be joining fellow legend Xavier McDaniel as we support our legal team.
With the fact that we have secured two of the most prominent Sonics in history to participate in this event we are concerned regarding recent posts regarding content and activities during the rally. It needs to be pointed out that Save Our Sonics is promoting a classy, peaceful, and positive gathering of people who are respectful of the process and the personalities involved.
Recently a large number of individuals on the internet have given impressions that they are representative of our organization or involved in the policy of the group. While we appreciate that people want to be involved and do enjoy the conversation I want to stress that we don’t do our event planning or decide our organizational policy in public forums. Suggestions made here by anyone other than SOS leadership are what they are, internet conversation and nothing more. If you’d like to be involved send an e-mail to volunteer@saveoursonics.org and we can find a way for you to help.
GARY PAYTON!!!!! BE THERE
June 8th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Hmm… Can you imagine GP as a lawyer?
“Your Honor, please tell the Defense Lawyer to shut his mouth before I Smack it with my Wallet”
June 8th, 2008 at 11:49 am
David Stern is groaning.
June 8th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Brian, Steve and the rest of the founders of SOS,
I want to thank you for all the hard work you have put in. I just want to let you know that when we win these trials I want to buy you guys a round of beers at a sonics game. Possibly some hugs and tears from me. If I wouldnt be playing college football, I would be right by your sides fighting the good fight.
Good Luck Guys Stick it to Clay and his cronies
Kerry
June 8th, 2008 at 11:53 am
The Glove will be there? SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 8th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
DUDE… I may not be able to make it..
been hella busy lately……
Tell GP I said “what’up” …
sigh….
June 8th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
I wonder if Dale Ellis will be hanging with the X-man too? Probably not.
I hope Gary brings his exercise bike too because I always thought it was cool that he’d be pedaling on the sidelines when he was supposed to be “resting”. He is the man.
June 8th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
WOOHOO!!
Go GP!!!!! MAD LOVE FOR THE GLOVE!!!!!!!!!!
We love you GP!!!!!
June 8th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Brian/Steve/Anyone-
Can fans actually get inside the courthouse to watch the trial? What time is it scheduled to start and will it be over by 4:30? I don’t want to miss GP and X-Man, but also want to see the whole trial if possible.
June 8th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Last time I saw the Glove was right across the street from the courthouse where we’ll be meeting on the 16th. He was heading to the last home game of last season, where they honored him. He was smiling, laughing and rocking a fat stack of cash! This guy is the man and he is down for the cause. GREAT NEWS!
June 8th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
BTW, nbadraft.net has us drafting Oklahoma City native J.R. Giddens: http://nbadraft.net/. Pffffffft.
June 8th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
why on a monday! WHHHHYYY!!!!!???!!?!?!?!
June 8th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
based on Brian’s policy statement I will go ahead and wear pants.
I have a PTA function to support that day, I hope to get down there in time.
June 8th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Brian, Steve and the rest -
It might not hurt to print up some Rally Rules flyers to have volunteers hand out at the event as people arrive…a little preventative medicine.
June 8th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
It would be great to get a few of the older players like Gus Williams or “Downtown” Freddy Brown to attend too. Finding at least 1 player who played in the 70s to attend to remind the community that this team has been around for 40 years and is still the only male team in town to win a World Championship would be nice. All the same, you’ve got to love the devotion of The Glove and the X-Man.
June 8th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Monday is the day the trial starts. Clay Bennett should be walking out of the courthouse sometime around 4:30.
Respectful staredowns encouraged. Any further action inappropriate. We should all be there to chant SAVE OUR SONICS for him though…
June 8th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Wow! GP is going to be there!!! I hope I can make it in time to join with you guys.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
James B, I agree that we should definitely have someone from the Championship team at the very least, and with Gus Williams speaking up recently and saying that he wanted to be more involved in the cause of Saving Our Sonics, it would seem that he would be a natural fit. Fred Brown could be another. I don’t know if Jack Sikma is around, but JJ (Johnny Johnson) might be. Slick Watts is, but his last year on the team was actually the year before the Championship. It would be really cool to have Spencer Haywood, too, as our very first SuperStar.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Brian, I was thinking that it would be sweet if we could get a dunk tank set up and have a couple guys there in their trunks sitting up there with signs around their necks - one saying “Clay” and the other saying “David” or “The Commish” or “Clay’s Mentor” or something else equally as appropriate. And we could charge $2 or $5 for a chance to dunk Clay & Herr Stern. Of course, throwing the balls directly at the guys with the signs on would be prohibited.
I don’t suppose we could do this, right? Oh well.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
That’s great news that GP is going to be there to support our cause. The more superstars from the Sonics past the better for us!
As far as JR Giddens …. I’m not sure about him. I’ve never seen him play or anything. But we can’t start getting crazy biased about people from OK. If you recall, Desmond Mason was drafted out of OK State and he turned out to be a pretty solid player. And he LOVED Washington. He was devastated when he was traded in the Ray Allen trade. So we shouldn’t judge anyone that’s coming out of that state. Unless, maybe they specifically state they hate Seattle and hope the Sonics move to OKC.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Let’s get Downtown Freddy Brown and The Reignman or the Wizzard. Kemp isn’t doing much, lets get em up here.
Remember that news headline we were all talking about 6 months ago?
“The Reignman and Glove Re-unite to Save Sonics”
It’s awesome that GP is coming. See everyone there, and bbring a friends or four.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Brian R-
Cant wait for the rally. I just reeeallly hope everyone stays respectful and mature. When Clay or whoever comes out we need to only chant SAVE OUR SONICS. I hope no one will be booing or anything else negative because that will only hurt us and make us look bad. At least IMO.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
based on Brian’s policy statement I will go ahead and wear pants.
There goes the chance to get coverage on the E network.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Love that line:
“Respectful staredowns encouraged.”–B.R.
Here’s to hoping that GP gives a respectful scowl and some respectful trash talkin’…and that the X-Man respectfully flails his arms around in disgust with the tenacity of his rookie season.
June 8th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Johny Johnson is still in town as far as I know. His son Mitch Johnson graduated from O’Dea in the last few years and played ball with Brook Lopez at Stanford this past year. Smart player.
If “Downtown” Freddy Brown was there, we’d have our two must durable players ever (G.P. and Fred Brown). I think those two either played or started the most games as Sonics. Two amazing careers.
June 8th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
I’ve posted a general invite at Fred Brown’s Emerald City Center website. It may be a good way to unite with other allies there…
http://www.emeraldcitycenter.com/thankyou.php
June 8th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Downtown Freddy Brown is not a fan of SOS as I understand, so count him out. I think we should get as many of the Sonics who live locally to show up. That guy they just did a story in the Times about, the guy who played for the Bullets in ‘79 that is now homeless and lives in Seattle, anyone and everyone should be there that we can get there.
June 8th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I want Al Hairston!
June 8th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Does Rich King live in Seattle?
June 8th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
With GP & X-man, there should be a pretty good turnout.
Can we get KJR to promote this? Anyone have have contacts there or anything?
June 8th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Rich is our headliner. We were saving him for later in the week…
June 8th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Love this news! GP back in Seattle. This should get us an even bigger crowd!
June 8th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Also, I think we should spread the word to anyone we know works downtown. 4:30 would be pretty convenient for people who work downtown- Just cut out of work a little early to get to see X-man & GP & support the cause.
June 8th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
What is Jim McAlvane up to? Him and Kemp would be great together!
June 8th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
What’s Jim Mcillvane up to??Maybe Kemp and him could catch up.
June 8th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Sorry about the double-I thought it didn’t go through–BTW-Rich King IS in Seattle–really recent update by the PI—

June 8th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Guy’s more than what other Sonics we can get there we need to worry about how many of us we can get there. I’m doing my darndest to find a way up from SLC and still make work and what not on Tues Morning when I have a HUGE Presentation I must make.
The point is I know a lot of people are in the same boat I’m in. We have work, kid’s, and other volunteer functions. The big difference for you guy’s and myself is 1500 Miles.
We need everyone, whether active with SOS or not, to commit to getting thensleves and 3 other people there. You guys while 300 people in Olympia was AWESOME we need 3000 plus on the Courthouse Steps. We want so many people on those steps that Clay doesn’t get to see it cause he’s having to duck out a back door to avoid it!
It’s Sunday so I’m PREACHING!
Brothers and Sisters we need this one! We need it BAAAAAAAAAAD! We need to show all the Love, Sweat, and Tears 41 YEARS brings! WE need to show Stern, Bennet, and The East Coast Media Bias that we are not a bunch of laid back careless West Coaster’s! We need to wear our Green and Gold Love on our SLEEVE! This is the hour that shows the World that we LOVE, WANT, And EXPECT… NAY DEMAND THAT OUR SONICS STAY IN SEATTLE!
NOW… CAN I HAVE A WITNESS??!!!
Everyone remember 1 + 3 = SUCCESS! Get everyone you can out with us!
June 8th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Gp showing up is BIG - I’ll bet he draws other former sonics - Detlef Schempt should show up - he has openly advocated for the Sonics staying in Seattle.
The 4:30 time should be great - As fans - let’s call KJR & other talk radio stations in the next 2 weeks and talk this event up!
Nice job SOS to get THE GLOVE! This is huge - ESPN needs to be contacted so they can cover this!
June 8th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Anyone know the process for trying to get into the trial itself on June 16? I assume there is some room for general public seating?
June 8th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
4020… You are on it - we need to think “BIG” on this in terms of turnout.
Is there going to be any planning meeting to work on a marketing and recruitment starategy for this event?
June 8th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
I plan on going unless somethings here change.
I don’t know if this is possible but parking is going to be an issue. What are the odds of setting up a meeting place where we can all park and then take a charter bus or something that can drop us there, go somewhere for awhile, and then take us back to cars? Wouldn’t have to be nice busses either. An old school bus would be fine (or more than one). I wonder if any of the school districts up there that get the benefits of the players and their charity work would be willing to help with busses.
June 8th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Did someone say Jim McIlvaine?
http://marquette.scout.com/2/622562.html
June 8th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
How about when Bennett walks out we rub our eyes screaming BOOHOO. Or yell SATAAAAAN BENNNETTTTT
June 8th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Maybe Tom Burleson would take a couple of days off work to come help us out at the rally…

June 8th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
In the Litvin deposition, the Seattle Attorney askes if the Hawks new Arena is relatively new, and Litvin replies that it is not.
Philips Arena was completed and opened in 1999 at a total cost of 213.5 million (not sure how much of that was public and private money). How in hell is an arena that is only 9 years old not relatviely new? Especially considering that there seems to be only three arena that were opened in the 2000’s.
Look up NBA arenas on wikipedia (I’d post the link but don’t know how to use tiny URL, sorry). So, if by the NBA’s standards, Philips is out of date, then every other teams bar 3 is also out of date (including the Pepsi Center, which opened the same year). How ridiculous is that?
June 8th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Litvin and Stern are wheeler-dealers who have no interest in anything that happened ten minutes ago much less eight or nine years ago. If you didn’t kiss their diamond rings or golden rear sides when you entered the room, you don’t exist. They are ADD nano-second business gnomes without sense or vision or even much contact with reality. They say and do whatever seems to work for them at the moment…
June 8th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Thanks to GP and X (and any other players) for the effort on June 16th. This is a contribution that they are uniquely able to make to yield the most media impact. It shows respect for the heritage they shared / helped create and respect for the fans.
Congrats to the organizers for securing this help.
June 8th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Big move for SOS to get GP! X-man is nice but Payton will bring a huge crowd. I’m impressed and I wish i could be there.
June 8th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Somebody should gets the words out to ESPN and other media oulets. The fact that GP will be there should get some attention from the press.
June 8th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
is J.J. still in the area??
June 8th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
JJ, it would be great to talk this rally up with our friends and get media attention over the next 2 weeks, but, unfortunately, we only have one week left before the trial. The trial is June 16, today is the end of June 8 and almost June 9 - exactly one week from Monday morning.
So we don’t have a lot of time to get a lot of media attention for this. We need to start organizing some carpools and such. Somebody mentioned buses (Laporbo, I think), but I know nothing about that. We all have some work to do to get the attendance up.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
If we could find a way to get Kevin Calabero there and KJR and other outlets TV etc to promote, maybe Kevin could do so voice promos??!!??!!??!!Give him some mike time at the event??
June 8th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
That might put him on the outs with ESPN though
June 8th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Calabro is a Sonics employee, may not look to good for him to.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Anyone remember the raly in 96′ for the WCF Game 7?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv_T6vF6WPw
Watch about a minute in.
Let’s get 5000 peope there June 16th. It will be just like the 90’s. Let’s get Hershey too, he’s a nice guy I’m sure he would. Maybe Jim Graci the old PA announcer, he’s in Pennysylvania now, but he could fly out here. And KC would be a cool idea, too.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Mmmmm… Hershey
June 8th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Ha I mean hersey
June 8th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
that would be awesome if we can have a goal of 1000 people
June 8th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
And we need to change the attitude towards the Sonics, we need the Times, and KOMO,KING and KIRO to do a story saying that the Sonics can stay, and then get them to talk about the Rally. They talk about theose little Anti-War protests al the time, I’m sure they would talk about this. It seems like everyone I talk too thinks that they’re already gone, the majority don’t know all the facts.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Rich King? Jim McIlvaine?
1-2-3… Bring in Shef!!!
June 8th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Hmmm… or on second thoughts, are you saving Shef as the human victory cigar, Brian?
June 8th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Rmcd & W.S. Tim, Kevin Calabro is a very interesting possibility, though. We may be able to get him because he has already made his intentions clear. He has publicly stated that IF the Sonics relocate to OKC, he will NOT go with them, so he’s obviously pretty upset about the whole thing and he may be happy to say a few words about the whole situation. I don’t know. He may not, but I think it’s worth asking him about it. Brian, what do you think? I think that we should at least extend him the invitation to let him know that we appreciate all he’s done for us.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
We gotta at least make the effort to get the Chef (Shef) - Steve Sheffler - a giant among men. Actually he was a real kick and a great guy. A great 12th man. Everyone loved to cheer for the Shef. Kevin Calabro said “Steve Sheffler means Free Beer in Seattle” (or that’s what he thought at first) because everytime the announcer said “Steve Sheffler’s entering the game” the crowd went absolutely bonkers, like he was the NBA MVP or something.
Good times, man, good times.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Did you guys see Radmanovich steal the ball and go coast-to-coast to reduce the deficit to 4 from 24 a few minutes earlier? Of course, Vladimir clearly travelled but it wasn’t called (who knows why?) - now it’s 2 pts with 30 secs left.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I think you guys must all be watching the game or something. Now it’s back up to 4 points with 22 secs left after 2 clutch free throws by Paul Pierce. Lakers Ball. The Celtics let them back in the game.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I dont know if it will do anything but Best Damn Sports Show is my myspace friend and I know they are close to GP so I sent them a msg about the rally. Worth a try I guess.
June 8th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Nice block by Paul Pierce on Vujacich. 2 clutch FT’s by Posey. The Celtics win by 6.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
T, thanks for your kind words on the other thread. I don’t know what that guy’s problem was. I didn’t get his objections, but it was quite an attack. I appreciate your support. Some of the stuff I was throwing out for the rally were total jokes like the dunk-tank and I assumed that EJ’s pinata thing was a joke but I wanted to draw it out of him by saying can you make one?
The skit idea was at least semi-serious - if there were people who wanted to do it, I think it could be fun and in good taste and still be funny. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll have a very respectful rally. Our only real problem will be getting more than 1,000 or 2,000 people there. Have you communicated with the “Best Damn Sports Show” before and did they communicate back? How many people do you think you can get there. I have 2 so far, but I’m working on it.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Isn’t Shef the head of A Christian GOP Group in Iowa? Seriously, he was always interested in Politics and there was a Steve Scheffler involved with in the Caucases in Iowa this last year. Maybe we find out an give him a call.
Did anyone notice the interesting things I noticed in The Pre-Roll for tonight’s game?
June 8th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
4020Vision, I didn’t turn the game on that early - what were they showing? I saw Stern’s ugly smug mug during the game in the stands and their whole NBA Cares promo. It was touching & almost believable.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Zendoc -
“I asked before who could do a photoshop Doctored photo of Clay with devil horns a barbed tail and maybe a forked tongue coming out of his mouth, and I don’t remember getting a response on that. If we have talent here (and I know we do), we really need to start putting it to good use before the rally.”
…
Stay classy, Seattle.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I am definitely spreading the word about the rally to even people who may not go but have asked them to email anyone and everyone who may want to be there.
And congrats Celtics! : ) They almost let that one slip away!
June 8th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
“Did you guys see Radmanovich steal the ball and go coast-to-coast”
You mean the same play where he took 5 1/2 steps before scoring.
Good god.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
In the Pre-Roll just lot’s (3) Sonics/Seattle Images. I just found that interesting.
Good Game though. The story on Powe and then his Game Play were fun to watch. For some reason he reminded me of Scott Wedman and a game he had for The Celts back in the 80’s.
Celt’s need one in LA. That’s why I hate the whole 2-3-2 Format. If Home team wins both it’s pretty much done since it’s hard for any team to pull out 3 in a row in a Playoff Series at Home.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
ZenDoc…I have not communiacted with them before I just thought it wld be worth a try I will send them the info everyday from today until next monday morning. I am coming to the rally with my dad and my 4 yr old daughter and I am getting the word out to as many people as I can.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Everyone remember 1 plus 3 = success!!!!!
June 8th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
4020:
“Isn’t Shef the head of A Christian GOP Group in Iowa? Seriously, he was always interested in Politics and there was a Steve Scheffler involved with in the Caucases in Iowa this last year. Maybe we find out an give him a call.”
I’m guessing that you were half kidding . . . but anyway checkout the photo of the Steve Scheffler the Christian Conservative (at the following link). I say that our Shef can take this dude in a one-on-one game . . . but I’d want to make sure our Shef got to take the ball out first before I’d put any money on it.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0207/2942.html
June 8th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
No, I never saw a picture of the guy and had read back in the day that Our Shef was politcally inclined so I figured maybe it was him. But thanks for the photo, that answers that.
June 8th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Because I haven’t seen this mentioned yet (apologies if it has been)…
Workouts by the Sonics so far:
Last Thursday - JJ Hickson (NC State), Kosta Koufos (Ohio State), Kevin Love (UCLA), Nathan Jawai (Australia)
Last Saturday - Roy Hibbert (Georgetown), George Hill (IUPUI), Shaun Pruitt (Illinois), Russel Westbrook (UCLA)
Scheduled:
This Friday - Jason Rich (Florida State)
No word on Joey Dorsey’s workout yet, though.
June 8th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
And the draft rumour from Percy Allen and Jayda Evans (if it counts as a rumour!)…
Sonics are trying to drop in the draft and pick Kevin Love.
And then probably trade Nick for a high #1 in next year’s draft.
June 8th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Thanks to the joys of LinkedIn…
Shef is now the owner of K S Specialties, a business that sells food brands to Amazon. Their headquarters are in Michigan, but they have a second office in Seattle:

June 8th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Comment on Shef’s current shenanigans locked in moderation.
June 8th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
MartinH, I previously posted the first 8 players worked out on Friday I believe, but I didn’t know about Jason Rich this Friday, in fact, I have no idea who he is. Probably not a lot of people saw the prior post, though, because I don’t recall anyone commenting on it.
I commented that their early emphasis is mostly all BIGS (6/8). I haven’t seen any other players scheduled yet.
June 8th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
4020Vision & D_G,
I was looking at the Iowan Conservative Christian Steve Scheffler and thinking ‘that kinda looks like it could be Steve Scheffler’s Dad. There are some similarities with the square jaw and maybe the nose and mouth - anyway that fellow is 58 and the Schef is 40 now, so it’s possible with 18 years difference in their ages, but probably not.
June 8th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
The Sonics worked out Nathan Jawai the Aussie “Baby Shaq” - not much of a baby at 6′10″ and 280 lbs. - he’s just a little shorter version. But this boy takes up some space in the low post. And he has a nice mid-range jumper besides his low post game. He looks pretty fast when running. If you want to check out his highlights on video, go here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpJszNGHjNA
If we could get this monster power player with our second pick in the first round, we’d be doing pretty well IMO. I’m sure we could do a lot worse. This guy could be a better version (more talented, less surly) of Danny Fortson. A real enforcer down low. Any thoughts?
June 8th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Sheff was on KJR about 2 mos ago I believe with Gas–talked a lot about the Sonics move situation…he was VERY VERY upset!!!!
June 8th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I was just watching the M’s highlights on Sportscenter & Neil Everett slipped in a “Save our Sonics” following the highlight of a Bedard strikeout. Pretty Cool.
June 9th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Steve Kelly Writes:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/stevekelley/2004465742_kelley09.html
This is the time to take time off from work, pressure friends, call in sick, whatever has to be done. Do it!
June 9th, 2008 at 1:17 am
After taking a look at that^, my question is this. What exactly did Clay Bennett do after his statements that - he is a man possessed - to prove that he indeed was a man possessed to make things work here? Let’s look at the timeline, and see what he did in the aftermath of that statement to prove he meant here. I can’t think of a damn thing he did after that, and in fact(and not surprisingly) his actions after that statement actually make it look like it was OKC he was really possessed about after all…
June 9th, 2008 at 1:24 am
If the judge wants to take a look at what it looks like to be possessed(?) about keeping the Sonics here, then all she needs to do is take a look at what SOS is doing/has done, and this blog as well, and then compare that with Clay Bennetts’ version of being possessed to keep the team here. I think it’s safe to say that there’s no comparison, and that he doesn’t know the definition of the word if he expects anyone to buy that…
June 9th, 2008 at 1:33 am
I don’t have time to go look at the list of evidence but can anyone remember if they are going to use the Sonics employee(s) who were at the meeting with Bennett where he told them that OKC would pay for their moving, etc.? That was before the 12 months and proves everything.

ZenDoc, Jawai with #24 would be alright. All that really lets him down at the moment is his conditioning as he tends to fade out of games due to fatigue. NBA’s training regime should fix that problem though…
But the guy is a beast and has good hops for a guy of his size, and even though hes only been playing ball for a few years, he has a definite knack for the game. His footwork is great and he has a real intuition for being in the right spot to get boards and block shots.
I know because ive seen him play in person a few times.

Great article by Steve Kelley. It prompted me to send the following email to more than 800 people in my real estate database.
………………
I apologize for the non-business-related email but I think this is important.
I don’t know if you’ve been following the drama surrounding the Seattle Supersonics or not. I don’t know how you feel about professional sports. But if you’re anything like me and my family, you believe that good should triumph over evil. You believe that right should triumph over wrong. And you believe that one person can make a difference.
With those beliefs firmly in mind, I ask you to take a minute to read the following article and I ask you, if you’re in the area and available at 4:30pm next Monday afternoon (June 16th), please, please, PLEASE join the rally outside the Federal Courthouse in Seattle. Bring your family, your friends, and your co-workers. But most importantly, bring yourself. Together we can make a difference and send a message to the world.

We need thousands to show up on June 16th court date!!! I hope (my ideal number) 5,000 to 10,000 people to show up. If it was couple of hundreds then I will be very embarrassed about the fans. Steve Kelley is right as national media will pick this up if thousands of people show up at the courthouse on June 16th! David Stern will continue to get sick and groan more louder from New York! As Steve Kelley mentioned that no one expected that Seattle Supersonics fans will cave in!

I know JJ Putz would come if you asked him. He went to a lot of games this season. Maybe even some advertising at Safeco Filed?

Maybe some Seahawks?

That article by steve kelley was great. I will do my best to reach out to as many people as I can to get them to show up. But why in his article did he say the odds are steeply stacked against the city?

Just read Kelley’s Article, everyone with a decent e-mail list in the area needs to send it out just like Chris did.
1 + 3 = Success!
Get everyone out you can!

T, I’m really glad that you’re bringing your 4yo daughter to the rally. I think the more kids we have, the better. Did you bring your daughter to the Christine Gregoire rally? There were 2 ladies there who brought 2 little girls dressed in Sonics cheerleaders outfits and they were adorable. They stopped in front of the group and did a “Save Our Soncs” cheer. It was great. If that wasn’t you, you may have seen it on one of Reidster Reid’s video’s on YouTube:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=o-JFiD5_D1I&feature=related
the “Don’t Stop Believing” Remix. The one little girl and her mom appear at the beginning at the 14 second mark and the other one is shortly thereafter at 54 seconds.
Those little girls added a lot to the rally and they were so cute. If that’s not your little girl, I hope those kids are coming to the rally again. For anyone who hasn’t seen the whole Gregoire “Save Our Sonics” rally, it’s really worth watching all 6 minutes of it or watching it again. That was a lot of fun and we sent a message. I met a lot of great people there like: sbuxsux, Jeremy, Jason, Collin, Ben, Big Lo, and a few more. It’s funny I’ve seen Big Lo so many times, but never talked with him before that rally. Does anyone know what his condition is? Is he out of the hospital? One guy I wish I could remember his name was pretty tall (maybe 6′4″?) and a really nice guy and we talked for awhile and I saw him and his wife at the last Sonics game (this year) and I can’t remember his name or his handle now. See how many avid Sonics fans you can identify in this video.
