damn it’s snowing somethin serious out there - got like 5 inches on Beacon hill. WTF why doesn’t my work close already?!!
December 18th, 2008 at 9:37 am
6 inches up here on Beacon Hill. Anyone else got a snow report?
December 18th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Not too nice in Bellevue…felt bad watching people shoveling the path into our parking garage and then having it just start to snow again.

RmcD - thanks for the link. Good stuff!
Myk - I drove to the bakery this AM while there was only 4 inches, and it went OK. Not many on the street at that time. No sand or whatever had been laid down yet on the arterials up here. I felt sorry for the 20 or so people standing in vain waiting for the 36 bus to downtown.
December 18th, 2008 at 11:01 am
Speed, you’re on Beacon Hill? did you catch the lightning last night?!
December 18th, 2008 at 11:21 am
About 2 to 3 inches in north Seattle, near Ingram High School, light snow falling.
I have my laptop from work, I will tunnel in later today but few people are likely there.
December 18th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Dude, I was up couldn’t sleep, and saw the lightning flash, and like a fraction of a second later there was the loudest thunder I have ever heard. It was awesome! We got 2 blasts like that. Freakin amazing. Wife was wakened and terrified.
December 18th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
I’ll bet you it has snowed at least 3″ in the last two hours in Bellevue…driving home is going to suck worse then the Thunder
December 18th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
does html work on this site?
December 18th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
guess not
December 18th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Speedcat,
Reidster and I hope to have a trailer for the upcomming Sonicsgate documentary at this event in January.
December 18th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
ADam - not sure what you mean… you can paste links, and some posters (Dick Tate?) have figured out how to do italics / bold and stuff like that. I never took the time to try to figure out how to do that.
For instance, just typing this in (below) should work to create a link:

I’m feeling pretty good about deciding to work late last night so I could start my vacation a day earlier than planned. I’ve been enjoying watching the snow fall today while tanking up on irish coffees. Good luck with your commutes, fellers.
December 18th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Just post the link without any brackets.

‘Sup DT. Man I could use an Irish Coffee right now. Perhaps I’ll have to brave the scary drivers and the Holgate overpass to visit our buddies with the State of WA for some supplies.

Try tinyURL. I think this site restricts direct links to image and pdf files.
Yo Speedy, the white knuckle drive would be worth it, buddy.

Adam mentioned that the Bring Back The Sonics event doors open at 9PM, not 8PM as originally posted. I edited the lead post above, but just in case someone wrote this in their calendar or something.

Sounds like a great event. Speaking of Sonics memories, check out this YouTube of Spencer Haywood for a cool piece of our history. The end is a little cut off, but, this is sweet:

does anyone have quality video editing software and the time to put together a short (3-4 minute) video with the “Greatest Sonics Moments” on it? Your effort would be much appreciated and we’ll kick you a couple free tickets to the show. E-mail sonicsfansunited@yahoo.com if you can help. Thanks!

Jim Ross like Clay Bennett born Native Oklahoma.
December 19th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
it looks like Jeff Green and the OKC Thunder are going to win their 3rd game of the season…Raptors have hit rock bottom..
December 19th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Somebody is bound to ask at the big show how to bring them back, they may even want to do something.
This will involve sharing some information to combat the properual opposition and directing people to things they can do.

Baker -
Good thought. We’ll tell them to support/endorse http://www.fixthecenter.com. Brian and i debated whether to put down the Gov/Mayor/Legislative phone numbers on the flyer, but we decided that, considering the political climate surrounding this issue, politicos would view a bombardment of e-mails/calls as more of an annoyance than a mandate…. plus we already made that point with thousands of calls during last session. We will definitely emphasize the importance of passing Seattle Center legislation THIS SESSION to get $30/150 million in free money.
but i do think saying “contact your local representative” at the show itself is standard rally fare. most people won’t do it anyway since most have been all talk no walk on this issue.
thoughts? send me an e-mail to –> adamb83 [at] gmail.com.

also it’s impossible to read on here but the flyer has an informational blurb about how to bring the team home on the back side. see it in readable form here, below the artists’ “fave sonics moments”:

I suggest that if you are not directing people to do something, other than look at a web site and support something they already support that you describe this event in language that encourages people to see that becoming aware of the supportive facts, and that the site is a resource, as a kick-off event, letting people know that you may be asking them to show up big again.
That is what you can tell them to do, and that there is a reason for doing it, that they may be asked to act with effort and knowledge in the near future.
You have to be explicit or people that do not follow this. They may see this as a real possibility.
The legislature is not going to complete anything until they see the next quarter’s numbers in March. As stimulus plan may be proposed before then, but not much will get signed for almost 8 weeks after your event.

Click on my name and you can contact me at or through my blog if you have any questions.
It is unfortunate that nobody from fixthecenter ever got back to me a month or so ago.
