Allen Selected for the Three-Point Shootout

It has been announced that Ray Allen has been selected to participate in the Three-Point Shootout at this year’s All-Star game. He joins Quentin Richardson (the defending champion), Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, Chauncey Billups and Raja Bell in the competition. I like Allen’s chances this year. He probably has the purest shot of the bunch.

Ray has a pure shot, but he hasn’t seemed to really get it going much this year. I don’t know if that is indicative of issues with Ray or with the team, but either way he hasn’t been shooting lights out. While he’s only just a tad off of his career numbers in scoring, it has been a bit skewed (last I checked) by an increase in 3’s. With that list I think Ray has a pretty good chance if he can get into rhythm. No Peja? Raja Bell has quietly been an assasin behind the arc this year, and Billips has matched him shot for shot. Dirk has a fractionally high shooting percentage on 3’s to Billips/Bell but takes fewer per game. Kyle Korver would have been interesting to add, and Rashard is shooting a higher percentage than Ray is. Sorted stats HERE.
