Hi, my name is Sonic Joe and I’m one of the columnists here at Sonic Central. I’m an avid Sonic fan, and this year will mark my eighth season as a Sonics season ticket holder. I love sports in general, but basketball is my true love. I’ve watched the Sonics through all the ups and downs of the past ten years, and I remember it all way too vividly. I’ve never been more upset about a sports game than I was after the ‘94 Denver playoff upset, and I have never been happier than when we beat the Jazz in game 7 of the ‘96 playoffs to earn a trip to the Finals. Despite what my column intro says (Kevin wrote it), I’m not really angry or even jaded about the Sonics as a whole. The only thing about the Sonics that will tick me off on a regular basis will be the pathetic Sonic management/ownership team and what they consider personnel moves. For instance, take the 3 foot bunny with a Kemp jersey that is in place of my picture, Wally Walker was trying to sign him to a 3 year, 5 million dollar contract until last week, when he finally figured out that he was a stuffed animal, and not Michael Jordan’s co-star from Space Jam. Ok, that’s not true, but Walker has signed so many bums, I wouldn’t put it past him, but I’ll save my diatribe about Walker for another day and another time.
So every Friday, I’ll write about what’s going on with the Sonics as a whole, any issues I see developing, and I’ll name my goat of the week, a player, coach, owner, or GM that I think blew it the previous week or has just blown it overall. Anyway, I’m hoping for an excellent season, preferably playoffs (I won’t be holding my breath), and a good time with all of you Sonic fans. Until next time ....
