Fine Preseason Play Not Enough to Keep Forward Around
Forward Jamal Kendrick became the third Sonic cut this pre-season yesterday as the team trimmed its roster
to 16. Kendrick was considered an extreme longshot to make the team at the start of camp, and his surviving
even the first cut came as a surprise to most Sonic fans. In his one chance for extended playing time this
pre-season, Kendrick impressed, scoring 13 points on 6 of 6 shooting. However, he only played a total of
four minutes in the Sonics' next two pre-season games.
The battles for third point guard and third power forward continue. Antonio Harvey appears to continue to
be the leader in the clubhouse at third power forward. Though Earl Watson finally made his Sonic debut
on Sunday against Phoenix, he appears to have fallen behind Anthony Johnson. JaRon Rush has done
nothing so far to indicate that he will convince Wally Walker to change his policy about carrying 13 players.
