So how do I tell enough of the story without including too many details? Man oh man that is a tough question.
You all ask what is going on and I feel very obligated to tell you. I’m going to be sending out a more formal and detailed message to all the SOS members next week. I owe them a lot more communication than I’ve provided but basically I’ve been a little shot. I bought a house, went fishing, had my birthday, had my sons birthday, went crabbing, fishing again, now I have to move, and sometime after that I’ll emerge from my shell and get out in the world again.
Until then… Read the rest of this entry »
I’m really not sure what will happen here. But I am solidly against the Mayor’s decision to sell our team. Not that it was his team to sell in the first place, right?
If the citizens of Seattle were to overturn a Council/Mayor decision to sell the team, would that work?
Unfortunately, the courts are involved. The City already signed an agreement that annuls everything/anything from the court (as I understand). And the Courts are totally separate from the City. So we may be shooting ourselves in the foot.
We need to be careful that we are not killing the deal by the court AND losing the money that came as part of the deal. We have to get an improved result.
We need to be careful about what we sponsor. At this point I’m totally effing LIVID and I’m trying my best to be responsible in what I post. But we cannot destroy ourselves in our efforts to win back the team.
Where is the legal advice on this matter? Can the citizens undo a Court agreement? I somehow doubt this… there are a lot of unanswered loose ends here that do not compel me to foment anything. Yet.
As an FYI I am expecting an article in the paper tomorrow outlining a guy by the name of Jordan Browers efforts to mount an initiative that would overturn the cities acceptance of a settlement with Clay Bennet. Read the rest of this entry »
Man are we going to keep people coming here in the middle of summer after all that we have been through…
Sorry for the lack of news as I have been in Canada the last 4 days. Lots of king salmon, little basketball thoughts. Huge shoutout to all my peeps in Bamfield BC!
The talk today is about “coalition”. Will a coalition emerge to bring Sonics basketball back? Who should lead that coalition and what should is goals be? How should it pursue its agenda.
Great news today from a political fundraiser who advised that he has recieved multiple calls over the last two weeks that several well to do clients will no longer be donating to politicians who failed to save the Sups. As usual in this town nobody really believed that the worst would happen and after two years of inactivity they are all saying “How did this happen? Why didn’t somebody try to do something?”
I’m hoping to have more news about this next week. Until then I’m going to follow the free agent news and continue to enjoy the summer.
Mostly for the $10 mil trade exception they’ll get in return.
Great move for the Clipps.
Denver’s window of opportunity just closed, if it was ever truly open.
New thread: what can I live with?
I have a new poll question, please vote there, and discuss here.
(If I could make poll questions here I would.)
Seattle Center Arena Reboot Poll Question
The team I can live with in the future is (you can pick more than 1):
Return the Sonics
Expansion team
The Griz (back to the NW)
The Hornets
The Bobcats
None, I’m done
Whatever Steve Ballmer buys.
[Edit: Xteve here. Sorry about the threads going up and down, somehow a spammer figured out a way to put a script that over-wrote all this text with his 500-link worthless crap, so it went straight into moderation. I think this could be a cause for many of the dropped threads, back to your regularly scheduled discussion]
